Deering estate seafood festival

One of my favorite events is the Deering estate seafood festival. It takes place every year in March and I have been talking about attending since December! I went with my lovely neighbor and her mother who was in town visiting. The weather was perfect, encouraging us to roll out a blanket and relax while snacking on mahi tacos, conch salad, cajun crawfish, a tuna roll and spiced shrimp cocktail. Clearly I was in heaven. 

Weekend Work Week

As I was trying to get work done today, I couldn't help but be distracted by my soaking guajillo peppers. I had to finish making my favorite hot sauce which has been long over due. Finally finished and recovering from a bit of a bad attitude I started looking around the apartment. I found several things that make me very happy. Feeling slightly less bratty I decided to document and get back to work.

Hand made shelves, a beautiful selection of olive oils and vinegars from my mom and her husband. Parisian salts from my favorite dancer.

I received a text message the other day of this photo from a good girlfriend. She had discovered it in the barn of a friend's house. A house where my mother and father had lived right after my sister was born. In my father's handwriting it's our family name, his name, and my mother's and sister's. It was thrilling to see this photo especially after last week. It was like my dad was letting me know he's still around somewhere.

Cruisin'

Still recovering from the weekend I am also reliving the memories of my good friend Ashley's wedding. Always creative she decided to have her wedding on a weekend cruise to the Bahamas. It was my very first cruise, second destination wedding, and third close friend to be married. I had an amazing time with Ashley's family and friends and after some initial sea sickness it was smooth sailing.
