bone marrow anyone?

Always adventurous eaters, Michael and I ordered the bone marrow
appetizer.  We were not expecting it to be so large!

out & about

Our first official day in Paris! First stop, my favorite falafel place. Next, Les Puces (the Paris Flea market) where I honestly could have spent days.
We ended the day by meeting Silvia after work and heading to a "typical" french restaurant. Michael ordered his typical Duck Confit and we had a long and leisurely dinner in typical french fashion.

Tangerine Yogurt Cake

I woke up early today and decided to make a variation of one of my favorite recipes lime yogurt cake from Smitten Kitchen. I used tangerines instead of limes because I have an abundance in the kitchen.
The food processor just seemed too loud at 6:30 to make a strawberry sauce as I had envisioned. I plan to eat this with nutella or strawberry jam instead.

first meal with the Melun crew

After I finished work in Soissons, I headed back to Paris to meet Silvia and her boyfriend Remi who I planned to stay with for the rest of the week. We then scooped Michael from Gare du Nord station (after his weekend in London) and headed to Silvia and Remi's apartment in Melun, a lovely little village 25 minutes outside Paris. Our hosting couple had bought tons of food for our stay including one of my favorite dishes Raclette! After our starter of delicious pork rillettes, saucisson, cornichons, and slovak sausage we began dinner.

The raclette cheese is heated under a small broiler (above) then poured on top of boiled potatoes and eaten with ham, saucisson, and cornichons. Rich and heavenly!
