New favorite lunch spot - My Ceviche, Miami Beach

Always on the lookout for new restaurants my boyfriend introduced me to a little hole in the wall called My Ceviche. With my desire to find something off the beaten path this place definitely delivered. Located on Washington avenue, you can order your tacos, burritos and ceviches at a small counter and enjoy them, as god intended, under the warm Florida sun. The hostel next door provides great people watching and the possibility for new friends as the open travelers share stories and inquire about South Beach activities.

My Ceviche boasts seasonality, sustainability, and local availability, and it's definitely true. While we were eating we witnessed a gentleman drop off three freshly caught yellowtails, you can't get much fresher than that.

Octopus and shrimp tacos

My plan is to eat here everyday for, most likely, the rest of the summer. Check it out:

30 hours with Josh

It is always difficult to plan a get together especially when its destination. My old roommate Josh didn't think he would have time to make the reunion but last week decided (with the encouragement of Dani Disco) thirty hours is better than nothing. Josh brought us all presents from his time in Benin with the Peace Corp last year. The gifts really tied the group together. Instead of bandannas and mustaches, this year we all wore African necklaces, bracelets, and belly beads.

Thank you Mr. Cunningham for finally showing your face again in the 305. You have been missed.

Au revoir mes nouveaux amis!

I have found the only downfall to living in sunny Miami is that it is a very transient place. I have lived here almost 8 years and have sadly said goodbye to so many friends. Most seem to spend a common 3 years here, then are off to New York, Dallas, or LA. Its great to have friends to visit in different cities, but nothing beats one who lives right down the street. I had that, and now I am saying goodbye to yet another friend. I met Sylvia in french class back in May but because we sat on opposite sides of the room we never ended up really talking until this semester. She mentioned she lived in South Beach and I asked if she wanted a ride home. It was instant friendship after that and the question remains "why didn't we start hanging out earlier?!" Especially now because she has decided to move to Paris with her lovely french boyfriend. I'm obviously happy for her, but quite sad to lose yet another new friend. One I adore so much. To alleviate some of the pain, a proper send off was in order.
